Echoes

In his mural “Echoes”, Portuguese visual artist Diogo Machado, also known as Add Fuel, pays homage to the renowned Burmantofts pottery, incorporating redesigned patterns from tiles found in esteemed Leeds institutions like Leeds Central Library, Leeds Town Hall, University of Leeds, and Leeds Grand Theatre. The fusion of traditional decorative elements and contemporary design reveals, upon closer examination, a richly detailed world featuring unique images and characters brimming with distinctive motifs and deep emotions.

The mural celebrates the area’s important ceramics heritage and features as part of the city’s Year of Culture 2023.
